Feel Invincible

Target on my back; lone survivor lasts. They got me in their sights.
No surrender, no. Trigger fingers go. Living the dangerous life.
Hey, hey, hey everyday when I wake I’m trying to get up;
they’re knocking me down, chewing me up, spitting me out.
Hey, hey, hey when I need to be saved you’re making me strong, you’re making me stand …
never will fall, never will end, shot like a rocket up into the sky. Nothing could stop me tonight.
You make me feel invincible.

Earthquake, powerful just like a tidal wave, you make me brave; you’re my titanium.
Fight song, raising up like a roar of victory in a stadium.
Who can touch me ‘cause I’m (I’m made of fire)?
Who can stop me tonight (I’m hard wired)?
You make me feel invincible.

Here we go again. I will not give in. I’ve got a reason to fight.
Every day we choose. We might win or lose. This is the dangerous life.
Hey, hey, hey everyday when I wake they say that I’m gone; they say that they’ve won;
the bell has been rung, it’s over and done.
Hey, hey, hey when I need to be saved they’re counting me out, but this is my round.
(You in my corner look at me now) Shot like a rocket up into the sky
Nothing could stop me tonight. You make me feel invincible.

There are days when it feels like the world is against you. Every little thing that could go wrong does. It starts with sleeping through your alarm. Then something bad happens at work. You start to think, “Well, nothing else can go wrong, right?” Wrong. You get pulled over on your way to workout. At this point, you might be looking up to the sky, shaking your head, asking “Why me?” Then one final straw, something you have been looking forward to all day, something that has gotten you through everything else, just falls through.

When I have a day like this, I usually end up curled up under my blanket, wearing a onesie that makes me feel like I am getting a huge hug, watching NCIS. As I lay there, I think about how bad I want the next day to come. It will be a fresh start,; but I’m also slightly terrified that it will be another completely awful day.

Days like this make me feel weak, and if there is one thing I absolutely hate, it is feeling weak. My personal word is “strength.” This is the one word I would get a tattoo of, if I were to get a tattoo. That is what I pray for daily: strength to handle those completely awful days, strength to listen and be there for my friends.

But you cannot just draw on your own energy and strength all the time. As hard as we try, we are not invincible. Trust me, if you try to keep pushing on, without any support or help, you can end up in a tough spot. It leaves you exhausted and weak, with nothing left in the tank to carry on. At some point, you have to realize that it is okay to draw strength from someone else.

So where do you draw your strength from? Who is always there, no matter what? God is there. You pray. You ask God to lend you strength to get through those miserable days. You beg for answers when something tragic happens, and you beg for a second chance. We give thanks for the sacrifices made for us. We shout our praises from the mountain in God’s name, and we share God’s word with others so that they may also feel God’s love and strength. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” and Luke 1:37 says, “For nothing is impossible with God.”

Lean on God when you need strength. Lean on God when you need to feel invincible.
